Founded in 2008 by Nicolas Potel in Beaune, Maison Roche de Bellene was created with a clear mission: to preserve and express the pure identity of Burgundy’s finest terroirs. Building on generations of family winemaking roots in Volnay, Nicolas selects grapes and wines from old vines (often 40–100+ years old) across prestigious Burgundy appellations. The philosophy is simple and uncompromising: Respect for terroir Traditional, low-intervention winemaking No artificial yeasts or excessive new oak Long, natural ageing for balance and elegance Alongside the négociant activity, Nicolas Potel also established the Domaine de Bellene, converting vineyards to organic farming and focusing on old-vine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Maison Roche de Bellene today represents a return to authenticity — crafting refined, terroir-driven Burgundy wines designed to age gracefully and reflect their origin with precision and purity.

Burgundy is a region in east-central France known for its wine, including namesake Pinot Noirs, Chablis and Beaujolais. The area is crisscrossed by a network of navigable canals and studded with grand châteaux, some of which, are now luxury hotels.
