Winery Info/Brand
Tasaki Shuzo is more than 100 years ago, the first-generation owner discovered a renowned natural spring water source, described in 1887 (Meiji 20) as “an exceptionally rare and outstanding water source since ancient times.” This exceptional water became the foundation of the distillery, which was established on the very site and continues to play an essential role in its shochu production.
Recognizing the potential of long-term maturation at a time when aged shochu received little attention, Tasaki Shuzo dedicated itself to producing authentic aged shochu with rich aromas, depth and complexity.
The distillery was also among the pioneers in producing roasted sweet potato shochu. Using fragrant, naturally sweet roasted sweet potatoes, carefully crafted koji and high-quality natural spring water, together with traditional atmospheric distillation and slow maturation, the distillery produces classic Satsuma shochu with a rich character, mellow texture and refined taste.
