William Hill, the great, great, great grandfather of Winemaker, Greg Follett, first took up land in Langhorne Creek in the 1850's. His granddaughter later married Arthur John Follett, who established the first vineyards on the property during the 1880's.The Follett family with the first Lake Breeze wine produced in 1987. This led to the opening of the cellar door in 1991. The next generation has now assumed control with Greg the winemaker, Roger the sales manager and Tim, the vineyard manager, all working together to make Lake Breeze Wine a success of what it is today. Only the best 25% of fruit from the older vines on the 90 hectares family vineyard is chosen, allowing Greg to create a wine with amazing depth of flavour.

Region Info/Origin

Langhorne Creek is a town in South Australia, which is about less than an hour's drive from Adelaide. Langhorne Creek has a wine history dating back to 1850. Traditionally a red wine growing district well-known for production of outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, these two red wine grape varieties constitute approximately 70% of the total vineyard plantings in the region. Over recent years, considerable experimentation has occurred and a wide range of grape varieties are now grown. The vineyards harvest from early March to late April. The town is on the banks of the Bremer River which flows into Lake Alexandrina. In winter, the river frequently floods across the vineyards, contributing to the terroir of the region.
