Carruades de Lafite, 2nd Wine of Chateau Lafite 2008

The beautiful aromas of graphite, smoke, black currants, and cedar on the nose exhibits elegance, fresh and lively personality. With interesting nuances of sandalwood, chocolate and damp earth characteristics, the medium to full-bodied wine has a mouth-watering finish.

Winery Info/Brand

Château Lafite Rothschild's second wine, Carruades de Lafite, presents similar characteristics to the Grand Vin, but with its own personality linked to a higher proportion of Merlot and to specific plots that are used to produce Carruades. The name comes from the Carruades plateau, a group of plots acquired in 1845 just next to the vines on the Château hilltop.

Region Info/Origin

Pauillac is home to several of the world's most famous wine and the region lies in an inauspicious small village in Médoc. Pauillac sprawls over the land size of about 8.8 square miles, is highly optimised for wine production and accounts for a rather disproportionate amount of fine, expensive wine in Bordeaux.
