Winery Info/Brand

Bodegas Luis Cañas is a family winery founded in 1928 and it is located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. However, it was not until 1970 when Luis Cañas started to market bottles of young wine. Gradually, the winery's marketing and sales efforts increased, making it one of the leading wine producers in Rioja Alavesa today. In 1994, Juan Luis, only son of Luis Cañas', oversaw the birth of a new modern winery and equipped the facility with the best winemaking systems. The result is a wine of undisputed quality, which has gained a steady market share and built a base of loyal clienteles as well as achieving awards in the most prestigious national and international tastings and competitions.

Region Info/Origin

La Rioja is a province in northern Spain with a renowned local wine industry. Below the Cantabrian Mountains, vineyards occupy the Ebro valley and surround the old town of Haro, where the summer festival features a messy "wine battle." The local wineries range from small to traditional cellars and Marques de Riscal in neighboring Euskadi, which has distinct steel architecture by Frank Gehry. The vineyard has freshly grown grape varieties including Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Garnacha, Albariño and the usual prominent Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Some of these grapes are used in the wine blend to create a different yet unique flavoured wine for enjoyment. Pick out the notes full of fruits, underwood and spices.
