Tedeschi boasts a long family tradition in winemaking stretching back to 1630. It specialises in the traditional winery techniques in the Valpolicella region and have pioneered the re-emergence of centuries-old indigenous vines, offering the best interpretation of "terroir". The purchase of the Maternigo Estate in the Valpolicella D.O.C. area has enabled the company to become totally self-sufficient as regards fruit supply. The winery also practices green environment through reducing environmental impact via organic farming.

Abruzzo is an Italian region, east of Rome on the Adriatic coast. It contains 3 national parks, hilltop medieval and Renaissance towns and numerous nature reserves. The Apennine mountains form much of its interior, and the coastal plain has sandy beaches and dune systems. Regional capital L’Aquila was badly damaged in a 2009 earthquake and restoration is ongoing.
