Nestled at the foot of the Andes Mountain in the unique microclimate of Perdriel, the Marchiori Vineyard provides an outstanding environment for malbec as well as other varietals. The inaugural 1999 vintage of Cobos Malbec received the highest score at the time for any Argentinean wine upon release. Since then, Paul and his Argentinean partners have grown their family of wine, which continue to receive even greater accolades. The wine of Viña Cobos are the results of a shared vision inspired by the passion of American winemaker Paul Hobbs and Argentine winemaking partners Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud to produce expressive, world-class wine with a true sense of place.

Region Info/Origin

Mendoza, in Argentina's Cuyo region, is the capital of Mendoza Province and the heart of Argentina's wine country. Its many bodegas (wineries) are famous for tastings and tours. Mendoza climate, in general, is moderately cold during winters, with sunny days and lows regularly below freezing temperature. Rainfall is scarce and not enough to support vines, but heavy winter snowfall on the Andes mountains provides snowmelt water for irrigation. The soils of the different winemaking regions originated from the erosion and decomposition of the Andean rocks and minerals in the Quaternary period. Mendoza's vines are famed for Malbecs and other bold reds.
